THERE ARE WHISPERS OF SPRING HERE EVERYWHERE I LOOK. While the eastern portion of the country is buried in snow, it definitely feels like spring here with 60 degree temperatures and plenty of sunshine. After unusually heavy rains a week or so ago, the ground is starting to dry out a bit.
Leaves, buds and flowers are bursting forth. Camelia, hellebores, crocus, cyclamen, witch hazel, pulmonaria, early tulips. Here is a little pictorial sampling of what’s happening in my little corner of the world.
Beautiful photos! We are just heading for Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere!
Sorry to be so tardy in responding, Bonnie. Probably 90% of my hellebores came from my grandmother’s garden and the remainder are mostly the free seedlings (and their crosses) of those plants. Only one (the yellow one) is purchased and a few came from a friend of my daughter.
I am probably zone 8; we rarely have long streaks of cold or below freezing weather Seattle and I am located on a bluff of sorts, just above Puget Sound so that really moderates our temperatures.
Thank you for this breath of spring. I live in Eastern Pennsylvania and need it right about now.
I can’t imagine how anyone is holding with what seems to be the never-ending winter everywhere east of the Rockies. I am glad to have brought you a little sunshine and glimpse of spring. Here in the northwest we nowhere near having ‘normal’ winter; our mountains are bereft of snow and in the lowlands waiting for rain.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look.
I’m curious, were all your hellebores purchased or are some self-seeded. Also what is your zone? The last two years we had a few nights of -15 so I appears our zone 1s receding north!
